If there ever was a song for the times, Cat Valley's new single, "Landlord," fits the bill. Have you ever been pissed that your calls to maintenance have gone unanswered? Have you ever been pissed that your rent has gone up for no reason? Have you ever been pissed that landlords exist at all? The Bellingham-based band hopes you find catharsis with their new track that puts to music what a lot of us have been feeling.

After a decade together, Cat Valley is back and more pissed than ever. Known for their contrasting cutesy visuals and cutthroat lyrics, Cat Valley continues what they describe as "scathing observations of a world gone mad."

Three years after the release of their EP Bingo Queen, the garage-punk band packs a punch with the first in a set of new singles. The song was announced with Barbie-inspired artwork by Crystal Quimby, a.k.a. QuipsyArt, depicting a dollhouse engulfed by flames.

"Landlord" opens with "I lived in this real dump one time, it was called an unfinished basement, and the rain leaked into my room, and the toilet leaked into my room, and there were poison spitting beetles, and rats crawling all over my bed, and there was a gas leak the entire time I lived there. Richard if you hear this, you’re the worst landlord ever!"

Now, I am mad at Richard too...

The song is a hard-hitting, fun "fuck you" to anyone who hates their own landlord. With catchy lyrics and a memorable bassline, "Landlord" is the new anthem for your housing woes.

According to the band's Instagram, "Unfortunately the only made up lyric is the dog and Malibu, everything else is a real story from real landlords our friends and us have had."

Cat Valley has announced that they have two more singles on the way in the near future. Release dates are TBA. The band's current lineup is Whitney Flinn (guitar, vocals), Abby Hegge (guitar, vocals), Olivia Anderson (bass, vocals), and Eric Anderson (drums).
