Sonny Moore, better known by his stage name Skrillex, has been teasing the announcement of a Seattle show on social media this summer by posting cryptic messages like “Seattle?” on his X account or sharing a glitched-out photo of Gas Works Park on his Instagram story.

This tactic did successfully work to build hype, aided by the fact that Moore has not performed in Seattle since Bumbershoot in 2012. The closest that he’s come to Seattle since then was in 2019 at the now-retired Paradiso Festival held at the Gorge Amphitheater. Fans are ready for that to change!

Those dedicated fans even sleuthed out the concert's alleged date using the Seattle Parks and Recreation website, which listed an unnamed “large concert” RSVP’d for 8/29/26 at Gas Works Park. Moore finally confirmed on 7/30/26 that this is indeed true. Skrillex will be performing at Gas Works Park on Saturday, August 29th alongside Dylan Brady (of 100 Gecs), Nick León, Porter Robinson, and underscores. There is a sixth name scratched out on the poster that is rumored to be artist Ninajirachi, who has a new single out with Porter Robinson called “WannaCry.”

These are some big-name artists, almost all grossing over a million monthly listeners on Spotify, while Skrillex boasts over 21 million, which is likely to mean a large pull for this show and some stress on the surrounding area to handle it. While it has amazing views, Gas Works is not the usual venue for events with 10,000-plus attendees, due to the park’s size and the lack of parking (something to consider if you’re planning on attending this one).

Zoomed-out photos and videos of other large events at the park, such as the Daytrip Festival, which happened on the last weekend of July and hosted a similar number of attendees, make Gas Works look like a teeming ant hill! If that’s not your vibe, but you still want to catch the music, you could always take your paddle-board for a spin on Lake Union like many chose to do for Daytrip. If we’re lucky, we’ll be able to hear it ourselves all the way across the lake at the Hollow Earth Radio studio!

Despite logistically not being the go-to for larger music events, Gas Works has hosted countless DIY shows over the years. The looming defunct factory buildings, glowing city skyline, and soothing lapping of the water surrounding the park set the scene for a musical experience that encapsulates the soul of the city. Even with that DIY history, there has unfortunately been a lull in DIY shows at Gas Works in the past year since the tragic death of a teenage boy who fell from one of the tall, fenced-off structures during a punk show in 2025. This event hit the punk scene with a wave of grief, and some questioned whether it is responsible to host DIY shows there at all due to the many alluring yet dangerous-to-climb structures at the park.

A few bands have switched to other outdoor venues such as Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill or Magnuson Park in the Sandpoint neighborhood, but have occasionally faced pushback from the city. For example, while Daytrip raved on at Gas Works Park, Flesh Produce, Zookraught, GLITTER PORN, and FAITH IN STRANGERS were shut down before their planned show at Magnuson Park by bike cops before they could even begin. Even with the setbacks, the Seattle DIY scene will find a way to persevere, I’m sure!
