Ani Jan Debuts New Single "Half Life of My Love"
A multi-hyphenate artist, Ani jan fuses poetry, Middle Eastern, grunge, and trip-hop notes to craft something special. Drawing on influences like LAMB, Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead, and more, Ani jan is finding her place in the new trip-hop zeitgeist.
A little over a year after the release of her debut album, Heartbeat of the City, Ani jan is ready to unveil a new project. The launch begins with her new single, "Half Life of My Love," a dreamy ode to the "ruminators in denial." Ani jan states that she makes music for the yearners.
According to Merriam-Webster, "half-life" is defined as "the time required for half of something to undergo a process: such as a: the time required for half of the atoms of a radioactive substance to become disintegrated, b: the time required for half the amount of a substance (such as a drug, radioactive tracer, or pesticide) in or introduced into a living system or ecosystem to be eliminated or disintegrated by natural processes or... a period of usefulness or popularity preceding decline or obsolescence."
The new song continues with themes of love, existentialism, and a whole lot of introspection. Ani jan sings of a love that she knows is not quite worth hanging on to, but she wants to savor it for the time being anyway.
"The half-life of my love, it's just not fast enough..."
The song was produced by Evan George.
The single is the first from an upcoming album. The release is TBA.
